Under the supervision and guidance of cardiologists, these technicians provide assistance in diagnosing heart problems. If you want to enter the medical field, you should consider EKG technician training.

When a patient feels pain and discomfort in the chest, a cardiovascular specialist is required to perform certain tests and procedures to determine the real problem, its cause and to assess its mode of treatment. This process of diagnosing a patient is performed with the machine to generate a cardiogram and this can be done only by professional EKG experts. They attach the electrodes of the device to patients’ chest, arms and legs and start recording the condition of the heart in the cardiograph, which is then transmitted to the physician concerned for further analysis.

The responsibility of the technician does not end with the capture of EKG reports. It also involves the planning of appointments and heart rate readings of patients admitted to see if things are normal. Experienced technicians can deal with advanced tests such as Holter monitor, which must be attached to the patient and the readings should be taken over a period of time, like 24 hours. Other procedures are stress tests, when the patient is allowed to run on a treadmill to record the cardiac stress.

A cardiovascular technician is also responsible for maintenance of machinery, the reports of flaws or irregularities. The cardio equipment has to be recharged from time to time with graph paper and ink graphics. Also, the technicians should have good communicative skills to make patients at ease and comfort while testing.

For a cardiovascular technician, jobs are available in abundance, for example, in hospitals, private clinics, medical centers, emergency services and diagnostic centers.
