Pleasant changes and some discomfort during pregnancy week 25

pregnancy week 25From pregnancy week 25, every baby develops differently than the other. Some babies may weigh 5 pounds at birth, while other 8-9 pounds. This is a special week for the baby, as the structures of his / her spine form. The skeleton will support the body weight of your baby.

Baby’s fat continues to be laid down, and the arms and legs are looking more rounded than before. As your baby restores his/her shape, his / her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth. The capillaries are developing at this stage. These are tiny blood vessels in the body of your baby that move blood from the heart to the body tissues. Air sacs in the lungs are also growing at 25 weeks.

Be aware of loud noises that you may encounter this week. Your baby’s hearing is acute, and loud noises can scare him / her.

If you were able to look inside your belly this week, you would see that your baby is yawning a little these days. Although scientists are not sure why babies in the womb yawn, yawning can help regulate the amount of fluid or blood flow in the lungs.

As your uterus grows, it puts some pressure on your back and pelvis. This extra pressure can cause some back pain and discomfort. Some women may also begin to feel pain, pressure, torpor and tingling in the buttocks that radiates down the leg. The pain may feel sharp and even unbearable. This is called “sciatica”, and it is not uncommon during pregnancy. It is due to your baby’s head pressing against your sciatic nerve, located near the bottom of your spine. Once your baby changes position, the feeling disappears.

During pregnancy week 25, you may also experience hip pain which is generally rather uncomfortable. This is due to the relaxation of the ligaments around your pelvis, and the pressure of your growing uterus.
